Some people used the curiosity of the Netizens to gain attention on social media by allegedly distributing the illegal video on the internet.
According to Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 Section 4 , Netizens who also distributed the video of the crimes that Scully and Margallo made would also be punished by the law.
Section 4.Unlawful or Prohibited Acts. – It shall be unlawful for any person:(d) To possess any form of child pornography with the intent to sell, distribute, publish, or broadcast: Provided. That possession of three (3) or more articles of child pornography of the same form shall be prima facie evidence of the intent to sell, distribute, publish or broadcast;(l) To possess any form of child pornography.
Any person found guilty in violating section 4 d shall suffer the penalty of reclusion temporal and a fine of not less than 750,000 pesos but not more than One million pesos.
According to Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 Section 4, when the Anti-Child Pornography Act of 2009 Section 4 was committed through a computer system, the penalty to be imposed shall be one degree higher than that provided for in Republic Act No. 9775.
Authorities even warned the Netizens who saved the video on their computers and distributed it to their friends that they may face the penalty gave to Scully and Margallo.
They also encouraged the public to report anyone who distributed the video on the internet.
