ABS-CBN cameraman busted in drug buy-bust; “Ihahatid ko lang po”
Cameraman arrested in Quezon City drug buy-bust
A cameraman of ABS-CBN was arrested in a drug buy-bust on Friday in Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City.
Recovered from Anthony Martin, a studio camera operator for the network, were suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, drug paraphernalia, and marked money used in the transaction.
Martin denied any knowledge of the contents of the package, which he handed over to authorities.
According to Martin, a certain “Buddy” instructed him to deliver a package. In turn, he would receive P3,500 after the delivery. Martin said he was borrowing money from Buddy.
“May pinadala lang sa aking ‘yung pinanggalingan ko, sir… Buddy ang pangalan… Magbabayad lang sa akin sir, kasi nangungutang ako sa kanya,” Martin said.
(I was asked to deliver a package by Buddy. I was supposed to collect money from the person I was going to meet because I was borrowing money from Buddy.)
“Ihahatid ko lang po, isang give, tapos alis na po,” he added.
(I’ll just hand over the package then I will leave.)
Martin will be brought to Quezon City Police Station 7 for booking and processing.
In a statement, ABS-CBN said it does not tolerate the use and distribution of illegal drugs by any of its employees.
“ABS-CBN has a drug-free workplace policy and does not tolerate the use and distribution of illegal drugs by any of its employees. We will ensure that any of our employees proven to be engaging in illegal drugs will be subject to company policy. We are cooperating with the authorities on this matter,” the statement said. – Read more
